Brasov is a city in Transylvania, Romania situated about 166km (103 Miles) of Bucharest. Surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains is known for its medieval Saxon walls and bastions,the Gothic-style Black Church and the colourful Baroque buildings that surround the old town.Nearby attractions include Poiana Brasov the most popular Romanian sky resort, Rasnov Fortress, Bran(Dracula’s) Castle, The Fortified Church at Harman, The Fortified Church at Prejmer, Peles Castle in Sinaia, Medieval Town of Sighisoara (72 miles northeast of Brasov), Sibiu (85 miles west of Brasov).
Sibiu is a city in Transylvania, historical region in Romania, located 275km (171 Miles) north west of Bucharest. Nicknamed “The city with eyes” is known for its Germanic architecture in its old town, the legacy of the 12th Saxon settlers. Around the city are the remains of medieval walls and towers including the 13th century Council Tower. In the upper town the the Bruckenthal Palace now houses the Bruckenthal National Museum with European paintings and nearby the 14th century Evangelical Cathedral is the most famous Gothic style church in Sibiu with the original tombstones built into the interior walls. In 2008 Forbes magazine voted Sibiu as the 8th “most idyllic place to live” and in 2020 was designated the 6th best tourist destination in Europe.
Reaching your destination
Brasov - Situated at about 100 miles north from the Herni Coanda International Airport - Bucharest, a car journey (depending on time of arrival and road congestion) can last about 2.5 hours.
Sibiu - Situated about 170 miles north west of Bucharest, a car journey from the Henri Coanda International Airport will last between 3.5 - 4 hours.
Alternatively, Sibiu is situated about 100 miles south of the Avram Iancu International Airport - Cluj Napoca, cutting the travelling time down between 2 - 2.5 hours.
